Hi, I’m Claire *

I built Ghlór Mná because I sat in a room full of mothers feeling completely alone, and I decided to build the room that would have saved me.

I am a writer, a writing for wellbeing facilitator, and a founder. I live in Castlebar in the west of Ireland with my daughter Sloane, my fiancé, and a relentless belief that the ordinary life is the most precious one.

I have always been someone who lived inside words. Books, stories, other people's diaries, the notes I wrote to myself at 2am when everything felt too big to carry. Writing has always been the place I went to make sense of things. When I became a mother I found myself in the face of the wild journey that is matrescence, totally overwhelmed about how to navigate it all, it was the page that brought me back to myself.

ghlór | mná comes from two focail as Gaeilge - voice and women. I chose those two words because they represent our capacity as women to speak, and the push against the hundred quiet ways, that we’ve been told what have to say is not quite worth saying.

I don’t believe that, and I have never believed that. Every event, workshop, gathering and writing session I run is built around one belief that I will not stop saying until every woman in every room has heard it.
